Medical Marijuana Bill Passes in MD House

The Maryland House of Delegates took a first step toward legalizing the use of marijuana by patients suffering the ravages of cancer, AIDS and other diseases when it voted 80 to 56 for a bill that would create a court defense for people who use the drug for medicinal purposes. Under the measure, if defendants can prove to a judge or jury that they used marijuana exclusively for medical reasons, they would be subject to a $100 fine, instead of the current penalty -- a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

Question: Does the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) require employee training?
Answer: Yes the FMCSA requires employee education.
§382.601 Employer obligation to promulgate a policy on the misuse of alcohol and use of controlled substances.
(a) General requirements. Each employer shall provide educational materials that explain the requirements of this part and the employer's policies and procedures with respect to meeting these requirements.
(b) Required content. The materials to be made available to drivers shall include detailed discussion of at least the following: it then lists those items that must have a detailed discussion of.
Most companies don't think about the employee education since we hear about the supervisor education all of the time and not very often about the employee education. I think that employee education is the most important program a company can have. It is incumbent on the employers to discuss those items and make sure that the employee understands the policy and regulations. If the employee does, the company may have fewer problems.
