DATIA Highlights Two New Presentations During the Upcoming Annual Confrence

DATIA has recently added two new presentations to the 2004 Annual Conference agenda. Mr. Jim Swart, new Acting Director of The Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance (ODAPC) and Brian Sowa, Senior Legislative Assistant from the Office of Representative John Peterson will be presenting on April 16, 2004.

This will be Jim Swart's first introduction to the industry since Ken Edgell retired in December. Mr. Swart will provide attendees with an insight into what he says is in store for the drug and alcohol testing industry, and Brian Sowa, will be speaking on new legislation pending in the House of Representatives to advance student drug testing. Congressman Peterson is a long time advocate for drug testing in schools, and we are very pleased to have his Senior Legislative Staff Person speak to our attendees.

Question & Answer: Excerpts from the DATIA Forum

Question: Has anybody out there heard of the "MOST" card? Evidently it is a card that collection sites or MRO's can give to donors to show that they had a negative drug screen and they are good for 90 days? Then the donor needs to have another drug screen in 90 days to get another card? Evidently they are used by unions to present to contract sites so they don't have to get another drug screen every time they go to a new contract site?

Answer: The MOST Program is a labor-management organization that provides drug testing, respirator evaluations and safety training within the construction industry.

The program participants must be tested according to MOST's policies and procedures and must utilize a MOST specific chain of custody. Cards can only be issued by the MOST Program.

You can visit the MOST Program's web site at www.mostprograms.com for more information.
