DATIA sent a letter to all members of the House of Representatives today urging them to protect funding for student drug testing initiatives. Click here to read the letter.
The House is taking up the Labor-HHS-Education funding bill today and tomorrow that includes $10 million for student drug testing grants under the Safe and Drug Free Schools Act.
Rep. Bobby Scott (VA-3) is offering an amendment that will remove that funding and apply it to another program.
DATIA is urging our members to contact their representatives and voice support for funding of student drug testing.
You may contact your representative in one of two ways:
By phone: Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your representative. If you're not sure who represents you, the operator will tell you based on your zip code. You can also look up your Representative at www.house.gov.
By email or webform: Using the information at www.house.gov, find your representative, follow the links to his/her website, and look for the "contact me" information. This will give you an email address or direct you to a webform.
Whether you contact your representative by phone or online, be sure to strongly relay your support of student drug testing, and opposition to Rep. Scott's amendment.
Feel free to use information from the letter DATIA sent. Thank you for your help with this important matter!
