DATIA Announces Online Collector Training and Certification
DATIA is proud to debut our newest industry resource--Online Collector Training and Certification. This new program will enable more collectors than ever to gain access to industry training and achieve Certified Professional Collector (CPC®) status by allowing collectors to take part in DATIA's standard-setting and industry-applauded training when they want, where they want, and at a pace comfortable for each collector.
The new Online Training and Certification system isn't just being used to train new collectors. All certification exams--both new and renewal--will be administered online. This allows collectors to take the exam on any day, at any time. No more rescheduling exams if a collector is out sick on the day he or she is scheduled to take an exam. And no more waiting for results--the online system provides instant exam reporting and review.
Click here for detailed information on this new online training.
Current Certified Professional Collector Trainers (CPCT®) will receive specific instructions in the mail about how to use the online system for exam administration for collectors at their company, and the options for training new collectors.

| Question & Answer From DATIA's Forum: |
Question: When a Company employs DOT & NON DOT employees and that company sends an employee in for a post accident drug & alcohol test, whose responsibility is it to make sure that the correct form is used? The company or the collection site?
Answer: Ultimately, the employer is responsible for notifying the collection site whether or not it is a DOT or non-DOT test. However, it is a good practice to call the DER if the collector is not certain to make sure the proper test is completed.
Section 40.11(b) of the DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations states, that as an employer " You are responsible for all actions of your officials, representatives, and agents (including service agents) in carrying out the requirements of the DOT agency regulations."
