DATIA Newsletter Submission Guidelines

DATIA welcomes submissions from members who wish to share their experiences with other DATIA members through the DATIA newsletter. Newsletters are published bi-monthly, and articles can be submitted at any time. Below are guidelines for potential authors to follow when submitting articles to DATIA.

Suggested Content

Good topics for the DATIA newsletter concern how you solved a problem that others in the drug and alcohol testing industry may be facing. Write about items that you have experienced first-hand, and choose a topic you feel comfortable talking about. Think about recent challenges you faced and solutions you implemented. Include the highlights (the people involved, the money involved, the time and resources available for a solution, and the tools or measures used to evaluate success), as well as the barriers you faced in developing and implementing the solution and the lessons learned along the way. So that those who read your article can apply your expertise to their solutions, include sufficient how-to information and examples. Be brief and to the point, and keep background information to a minimum. Stick with the basics of what readers need to know to follow in your footsteps.

Evaluation

All submitted articles will be acknowledged in writing within 3 weeks of receiving the article. Articles are evaluated on originality of topic, readability, soundness of content, timeliness, and interest to our readers. Articles that essentially only promote a particular company, product, or service are not considered publishable. All accepted articles are subject to editing for style, clarity, language, and length. DATIA editorial staff will notify those authors whose articles are not accepted as to the reasons why the article was not accepted.

Copyright transfer

All authors whose articles have been accepted will be asked to sign a copyright agreement that gives DATIA the right to publish and re-publish the article. No articles that have been previously published will be accepted for the DATIA newsletter.
